New Improvement Opportunities
Let’s say you are working towards sitting an important exam. You have stuck to your revision schedule and have a fixed way of studying and refuse to believe there is a better way of doing things. Your current revision style takes far more time, isn’t effective, and ends up costing you a pass in your exam. When it comes to resitting, you do not change anything but expect to pass this time. What does this have to do with ISO and your current certification body you may wonder? The scenario reinforces the importance of changing something to get a different, more positive result.
Certification body contracts are typically 3-years long, which is the universal norm. But, you should as with any supplier evaluate the performance of your certification body periodically. Many organisations simply renew without realising they can save money and get much more out of their Management System.
You may have a well-established relationship with your current auditor, and may be satisfied with their work, but have you ever considered what a fresh pair of eyes could do? And that you may be more satisfied with a new auditor? Businesses are often hesitant to switch certification bodies as they view it as a risk. However, a new auditor can offer a different perspective and identify new improvement opportunities or issues that may have gone unnoticed before.
A common myth is that it is not possible to transfer ISO certification from one certification body to another. This is in fact false, and even though you may be in a 3-year cycle, as long as you provide 30-days’ notice to your current certification body, you are free to move elsewhere.

We will then take over your audit cycle and conduct your audit on the same day that you originally had booked with your old certification body. Providing you are compliant, and procedures are adhered to, you will achieve certification.
